“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV)

After Jesus was risen from the dead, He appeared to two of his disciples walking along the road to Damascus, and spoke with them about the Scriptures. After He left them, “They said to each other, "Didn't our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:32 NLT)

God’s Word has the wonderful ability to change your heart!

  • God is able to create a pure heart within you

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10 NIV)

  • God is the strength of your heart

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26 NIV)

  • His peace will guard your heart and mind

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7 NIV)

  • You have a part in the process of a changed heart, too

Even though God makes changes in your heart as you read and apply His Word, you’re expected to make changes, too, as led by His Holy Spirit to do so.

  • You must give Him your heart

“My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways.” (Prov. 23:26 NIV)

  • You must guard your heart

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Prov. 4:23 NIV)
