“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6 ESV)

Jesus described Himself using metaphorical statements, such as this one, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

In this passage Jesus said He was three things

1. The way –  “No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6b ESV) “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim. 2:5 ESV)

2. The truth – “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” (John 16:13 ESV) “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 ESV)

3. The life – “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.” (Rom. 5:10 ESV)
