Hearing from God

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27 ESV)

I have never heard an audible voice from God, but I’m absolutely sure I’ve heard Him speak to me many times in my thoughts through His Word, the Bible. I read, study the Bible and think deeply (meditate) about what I’ve read. Often His Word speaks very clearly to me as scriptures come to my mind on many things as needed personally. I’m sure His Holy Spirit is at work in my mind making it happen as He brings His Scripture to remembrance.

The Holy Spirit brings His Word to your mind

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26 ESV)

Hearing the word of Christ

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Rom. 10:17 ESV)

Call on God and He will answer

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” (Jer. 33:3 ESV)

Whoever is of God hears the words of God

“Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” (John 8:47 ESV)

Blessed are those who hear the word of God

“But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:28 ESV)

Therefore…

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” (Rev. 3:20 ESV)
