Whoever listens to God will dwell safely!

“But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.” (Prov. 1:33 NKJV)

It’s hard, if not impossible, to escape hearing bad news. It comes relentlessly in many forms; by tv, radio, cell phone and other devices. It even comes by every form of social media. It’s instant, intrusive and scary!

As I write this, there is talk of the possibility of world war three because of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. The fact is, no one really knows how these things will work out for sure. Everything changes from moment to moment. Talking heads and commentators of every political flavor tell us how we should think and believe about what’s unfolding before us.

Who are you listening to?

Are you listening to the world or to God? The answer to this question can and will make a huge difference how you’re feeling right now. According to the Bible passage above, if you listen to God (you read His Word and learn to recognize and hear His voice) you will “dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.” That’s a great promise!

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 19:27 NIV)

”Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12 KJV)

”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh. 1:9 ESV)

”The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” (Psalm 28:7 ESV)
