Everlasting Father

Names of God

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isa. 9:6)

God has many names and titles in the Bible. Each one tells us something important about Him—His character and how He relates to us. And how we must relate to Him. Here is another one of His many Names, which is Everlasting Father.

Everlasting Father – Father Forever

The Hebrew word translated “everlasting” means “in perpetuity” or “without end.” The next verse says of the Messiah, “Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end” (Isa. 9:7). In other words He is the father of time and eternity, the architect of the ages.

He inhabits eternity

“For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.’” (ISA. 57:15)

His name is eternal

“His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed in Him; all nations shall call Him blessed.” (Psalm 72:17)
