When Dealing with Strongholds
“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
(2 Corinthians 10:3-5 ESV)
Strongholds begin in the mind
A stronghold is a wrong way of thinking that has become deeply rooted through repeated lies, fear, temptation, or sinful habits. It may be an addiction, bitterness, pride, anxiety, lust, unforgiveness, or believing you are beyond God’s help. Like ivy growing over a building, a stronghold slowly wraps itself around a person’s thinking until it seems impossible to escape.
The good news is that no stronghold is stronger than Jesus Christ. God has not left us defenseless. He has given us spiritual weapons—His Word, prayer, faith, and the Holy Spirit—to tear down every lie and replace it with His truth. Victory begins when we choose to believe what God says instead of what our emotions, circumstances, or the enemy tell us.

Quote
“Nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change. We need to remind ourselves that God can change things. Outlook determines outcome. If we see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the problems, we can have victory.” — Warren W. Wiersbe
