When walking uprightly

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11 ESV)

What Does It Mean to Walk Uprightly?

Walking uprightly means living honestly before God—doing what is right, speaking the truth, and allowing His Word to guide your choices.

“He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart.” (Psalm 15:2 ESV)

God does not expect us to walk alone. He gives wisdom and protection to those who seek to live His way.

“He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.” (Prov. 2:7 NKJV)

Watch How You Walk

The Bible warns that difficult times will come when people become lovers of themselves, money, and pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Tim. 3:1-5). We are told not to follow their example.

Instead, we are to carefully examine the direction of our own lives.

Therefore

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph. 5:15-16 ESV)

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7 ESV)

Walking uprightly does not mean we never stumble. It means we continually choose to walk in God’s light, obey His Word, and turn back to Him when we fail.

“He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly… he will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; his water will be sure.” (Isa. 33:15-16 ESV)

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk uprightly before You. Give me wisdom to make right choices, courage to speak the truth, and strength to turn away from evil. Keep my heart faithful to You and guide my steps each day. Amen.
