There is safety in a multitude of counselors
IMG_5854.JPG

“Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” (Prov. 11:14 ESV)

I have a super successful business friend who has made millions of dollars in numerous business ventures. He says one of the big reasons he is so successful is because he takes much advantage of his business friendships. In fact, over the years he has amassed a vast contact list made up of many successful business men and woman who he utilizes for advice and counsel. Before he completes any project or venture, he runs it past them for input. He said their valuable counsel has saved him numerous times from making serious mistakes.

The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God
IMG_5853.JPG

“For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” (James 1:20 ESV)

A few years ago a Christian friend got angry and swore at me over an issue we strongly disagreed about. I was shocked to hear what came out of his mouth and told him so. But he said he was justified because he was responding with “righteous indignation”. But, no matter what he chose to call it, his angry outburst of swearwords did NOT represent the righteousness of God!

Put away anger and obscene talk from your mouth

“But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.” (Col. 3:8 ESV)

What we have is more valuable than silver or gold
IMG_5850.JPG

When Peter spoke to a lame beggar he made it clear that he did not have any silver or gold to give, but instead he had something much more valuable to him. He had healing in the Name of Jesus. He gave that to the beggar.

“Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.  He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.” (Acts 3:6-10 NIV)

The former things will not be remembered

You too, shall be raised up

His Spirit gives life to mortal bodies

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (Rom. 8:11 NASB)

We are filled with a living hope

Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope (1 Peter 1:3)

In order that we may bear fruit for God

“How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.” (Prov. 6:9-11 NIV)

Make the most of every opportunity
