Compassion
IMG_1348.jpeg

“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience…” (Col. 3:12 ESV)

Jesus was compassionate

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matt. 9:36-38 ESV)

Therefore…

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Eph. 4:32 ESV)

“Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6:2 ESV)

“Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.” (1 Peter 3:8 ESV)

Quote

“Compassion is a combination of love and understanding. Compassion is where you know everything about someone and you still like that person.” Rick Warren

All things are from Him, through Him and for Him
IMG_1342.png

“For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” (Rom. 11:36 NIV)

Both visible and invisible

“For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him.” (Col. 1:16 NASB)

He is over all, through all and in all

“…one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Eph. 4:6 NIV)

From God all things came and from whom we exist

“…yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.” (1 Cor. 8:6)

Therefore…

“…to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Eph. 3:21)

God provides insight
IMG_1341.jpeg

“Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” (2 Tim. 2:7)

The Lord gives wisdom, knowledge and understanding

“For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Prov. 2:6)

God opens the mind to understand the Scriptures

“Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:45-47)

Therefore…

“For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God.” (Prov. 2:3-5)

Devine power to destroy negative strongholds
IMG_1339.jpeg

“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ..." (2 Cor. 10:4, NKJV)

Our fight isn’t against flesh and blood

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12 ESV)

God will provide a way for you

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Cor. 10:13 ESV)

Therefore…

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints…” (Eph. 6:13-18 ESV)

A model of good works in all respects
IMG_1338.jpeg

“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works…” (Titus 2:7 ESV)

A skillful worker advances to the top

“Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” (Prov. 22:29 ESV)

Distinguished above all others

“Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” (Dan. 6:3 ESV)

Work as though you are working for the Lord and not for men

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men…” (Col. 3:23 ESV)

“Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.” (Eph. 6:7-8 ESV)

Therefore…

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

“But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also.” (2 Cor. 8:7 ESV)

You are set apart
IMG_1335.jpeg

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

You are not of the world in the same way that Jesus was not of the world

“I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” (John 17:15-18 ESV)

You are prepared by God to walk in His good works

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10 ESV)

“Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:14 ESV)

Therefore…

“Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.” (2 Tim. 2:21 ESV)

Worship God in the Spirit and in Truth
IMG_1333.jpeg

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24 NIV)

Biblical worship: “If Christianity is the transformation of rebels into worshipers of God, then it is imperative for the Christian to know and understand what constitutes biblical worship. One may always consult Webster's Dictionary for the precise meaning of worship (adore, idolize, esteem worthy, reverence, homage, etc.). Yet truly defining worship proves more difficult because it is both an attitude and an act.” – Bakers Evangelical Dictionary

God is worthy of worship

“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chron.  29:11 NIV)

Blessings will follow worship

“Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you.” (Exo. 23:25 NIV)

Therefore…

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” (Psalm 95:6 NIV)

Be in Good Health
IMG_1331.jpeg

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” (3 John 1:2 ESV)

Good health takes self control

As a youth, I never gave my health a thought. I could eat a mountain of food and not gain an ounce. Now, it seems like I gain weight just by looking at food. I have to watch what I eat, how much I eat and make time for exercise. Good health doesn’t just happen without some personal effort. The Bible says your body is the temple of God’s Holy Spirit and you must take care it. And, when you think about it, it does make sense to take care of the body God has given us, so we can adequately do the assignment He has created us for. The Bible says we are like runners in a race and we must discipline our bodies and keep them under control in order to win the imperishable prize set before us.

It’s about discipline

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” (1 Cor. 9:24-27)

You are not your own

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.” (1 Cor. 6:19 ESV)

“If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.” (1 Cor. 3:17 ESV)

Therefore…

“For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Cor. 6:20 ESV)

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Rom. 12:1 ESV)

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
IMG_1325.jpeg

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you!” (Psalm 122:6 ESV)

The Bible has a lot to say about Jerusalem. In the above passage We are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

God will bless those who bless Jerusalem and curse those who dishonors Jerusalem

“I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Gen. 12:3 ESV)

“And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” (Zach. 12:9 ESV)

Jerusalem - the throne of the Lord

“Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.” (Psalms 122:3-5 ESV)

“At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart.” (Jer. 3:17 ESV)

“You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” (Isa. 62:3 ESV)

Therefore…

“For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch.” (Isa. 62:1 ESV)
