Today’s Promise to Memorize*

Extremely short memory verses

A number of my Power Packed Promises daily subscribers did not make the effort to memorize the previous Bible verses because they said either, “I’m not good at memorizing anything.” Or, “I have too many other things I must think about during my day, so I don’t have the time to do it.” Therefore, over the next few days, I’m posting some verses that are extremely short. For instant, today’s memory verse is “Jesus wept,” and is the shortest verse in the Bible. I bet you have already memorized it. Maybe you haven’t memorized its address, John:11:35, but you can add that easily. Just say it at the beginning and ending of the verse, “John 11:35: Jesus wept; John 11:35”. That’s it! Now you’re done! Wasn’t that easy?

What can you learn from this two worded verse? 

First, it shows that Jesus cared deeply and emotionally! He was moved by the sorrow of those He loved and cried alongside them. 

This is important because this refutes many people’s mental picture of God as being emotionally distant and out of touch with the world He had created. Remember, Jesus and God are one. He, said, “When you see me, you have seen the Father.” (John 14:9).  

Second, it does show that it is okay to grieve, to process strong emotions and terrible situations, and to cry.
