He Leads in Paths of Righteousness
“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3 ESV)
A traveler once found himself hiking in unfamiliar territory as the daylight began to fade. At a fork in the trail, one path looked smooth and easy, while the other was narrower and less traveled. Unsure which way to go, he chose the easier-looking path—only to find himself lost, far from where he intended to be. Later, with the help of a guide, he was led back and shown the correct trail. It wasn’t always the easiest path, but it was the right one—and it led safely home.
Life presents us with choices like that every day
A path is more than just a road—it’s a direction, a course of action, a way of living. Left to ourselves, we often choose what seems easiest or most appealing in the moment. But God, in His wisdom and love, leads us in paths that are right—paths that align with His truth and ultimately bring life, peace, and purpose.
God leads you to upright paths
“I have directed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths.” (Prov. 4:11)
And He invites you to seek His direction
“Make me know Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.” (Psalm 25:4)
His paths are good and purposeful:
• The path of life
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11 ESV)
• The path of justice
“I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,” (Prov. 8:20 NIV)
• The path of righteousness
“So you will walk in the way of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous.” (Prov. 2:20)
And His Word will guide you along the way
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 ESV)
He may not show you the entire journey at once—but He will always show you the next step.
Therefore
Choose to follow God’s leading, even when the path isn’t the easiest or most obvious. Acknowledge Him in every decision, trust His direction, and walk step by step in His truth. The path He leads you on is steady and sure—and it will always lead you where you truly need to go.
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Prov. 3:6 ESV)
“Thus says the LORD, “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you will find rest for your souls…” (Jer. 6:16)
“Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
