God’s promises for the earth

“As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.” (Gen. 8:22 NLT)

In the early days of the 1960’s, when John Kennedy was the US President and Nikita Khrushchev was Premier of the Soviet Union, Khrushchev sent ships loaded with weapons of mass destruction towards Cuba. This was a major threat to the security of the USA. Kennedy demanded that Khrushchev turn the ships around or there would be war!

This was very scary!

We were at the point of nuclear war, and everyone was holding their breath in fearful anticipation.

The end of the book!

At that moment, a reporter stuck a microphone into the face of evangelist Billy Graham and said to him, “What do you think is going to happen? Are you fearful of nuclear war?” Without a moment of hesitation, he replied, “I don’t know what is about to happen, but this I know; I read the last page in the Bible, and it says, ‘We win!’”

Billy Graham was not alarmed by the world events unfolding around him because he fully trusted in the Word of God, which governed his opinions, emotions, and reactions. That is a great and safe attitude to have in the world we live in! The daily promise at the top says, “As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.” This is very reassuring and is a great foundation to stand on; you can find rest in that! And, of course, read and believe the last page of the Bible! He is coming soon!

Therefore, amen and amen!

“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.” (Rev. 22:20-21)
