A More Sure Word
“And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:18–20, KJV)
The Bible is a more sure word — take heed to it!
Peter is saying something remarkable in the passage above. Even though he personally heard the voice of God on the Mount of Transfiguration, he tells us that the written Word of God is even more certain. Feelings, experiences, and circumstances change—but God’s Word does not. Scripture is a light shining in a dark place, guiding us safely until Christ is fully revealed in us.
Unshakable Word of God
When we build our lives on God’s Word instead of on opinions, emotions, or circumstances, we are building on something unshakable. The Bible is not man’s idea about God—it is God’s revelation to man.
God’s Word brings success when obeyed
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
Notice that God does not promise success from wishing, but from meditating on, speaking, and obeying His Word. True prosperity and true success flow from living God’s way, not the world’s way.
Therefore
Take heed to God’s Word. Read it, think about it, speak it, and live it. Let it be your light, your guide, and your authority. When you build your life on the more sure Word, God Himself will direct your path and establish your steps.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
