Spirit-Filled
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13 ESV)
A man once bought a brand-new generator for emergencies. He set it up in his garage, read the manual, and admired how powerful it looked. When a storm finally hit and the power went out, he wheeled it outside, checked everything… and waited. Nothing happened. Frustrated, he called a friend, who came over, looked at it, and smiled. “You’ve got everything right,” he said, “but you forgot one thing—you never filled it with fuel.”
Many believers live the same way
They have the right intentions, the right knowledge, even the right setup—but they’re running on empty. God never intended for us to live the Christian life in our own strength. He designed us to be filled.
“…be filled with the Spirit…” (Eph. 5:18 ESV)
In the book of Acts, we see ordinary people transformed into bold witnesses—not because of their own ability, but because they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…” (Acts 2:4 ESV)
“…and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31 ESV)
The Holy Spirit is not reserved for a select few
Jesus made it clear: the Father wants to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. He is the source of power, courage, guidance, and spiritual life.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” (Acts 1:8 ESV)
Being Spirit-filled is not a one-time event—it’s a daily dependence. Just like a generator needs fuel to run, we need to continually seek and rely on the Holy Spirit to live the life God has called us to.
Therefore
Ask God to fill you fresh with His Spirit today. Don’t try to live the Christian life in your own strength. Walk in His power, speak with His boldness, and trust His leading in every area of your life.
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Gal. 5:16 NIV)
