The Lord Upholds You with His Hand

“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24)

A father was walking across a rocky trail with his little boy. The child reached up and grabbed his dad’s hand tightly, but after a few steps he tripped and nearly fell. The boy cried out, afraid he would slip into the rocks. But his father was holding him far more firmly than he was holding his father. Though the child’s grip loosened, the father’s grip never did. In the same way, our Heavenly Father doesn’t depend on the strength of our hold on Him—He depends on His own strong hand to uphold us.

God Watches Out for You

Life is filled with challenges, stumbles, and uncertainties—but for those who walk with the Lord, His hand never lets go. Even when you trip, you are not abandoned. God is faithful to steady you, strengthen you, and set your feet back on solid ground.

Jesus Himself assured us of this security:

“My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” (John 10:29)

We are safe in His grip. His strength, not ours, is what keeps us from falling.

Therefore

When life shakes you, do not fear—you are not alone. The Lord’s hand is beneath you, around you, and over you. Trust Him to steady your steps, guide your path, and hold you secure.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isa. 41:10 ESV)

“He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail.” (1 Sam. 2:9 CSB)

“They have made God’s law their own, so they will never slip from his path.” (Psalm 37:31 NLT)

“He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm.” (Psalm 40:2)
