“God is an ever-present help in the time of trouble.” (Psalm 46:1 NIV)

Susan and I love to travel around the USA in our RV. A couple of times, unfortunately, we broke down alongside the road—once when a wheel bearing caught fire, and another time when a fuel pump failed. But we had subscribed to a 24/7 road service, and when we called, they came to help us. Having that service gave us great confidence as we traveled.

God’s help is even better than that

God is not just “on call”—He is ever-present. No matter where you are, or what you’re going through, He is already there, fully aware of your need. You don’t have to wait for Him to show up. He promises to strengthen and help you.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

And it’s all because of God’s wonderful love for you!

“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? … No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love … nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:31–39 NLT)

Therefore

Just as roadside service gave us peace of mind that help was always available, you can have absolute confidence in God’s presence. He is with you at every moment, His strength is unfailing, and His love is unshakable. Truly, He is your ever-present help in time of trouble.
