When your future is hopeful

“Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” (Prov. 23:18 ESV)

When things look dark

Sometimes, fearful and disappointing things happen making the future appear very dark and foreboding. During times like these it’s important to look at the big picture and understand that what we see is only temporary! It’s also important to understand who we belong to. As God’s children our future is actually very bright no matter how things may look here, or no matter what may happen around us or to us. During a national crisis, someone asked Billy Graham what his thoughts were and he said, “I’m not worried, I have read the last page of the Bible and we win!” Someone else has said, “I stopped worrying about what the future holds when I put my trust in the One who holds the future.”

We are God’s children

“Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.” (1 John 3:2-3 ESV)

God is in control

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Rom. 8:28 ESV)

“In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.” (Eph. 1:11-12 ESV)

God’s steadfast love is with you

God is Spirit

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24 ESV)

The Spirit is alive and dwells in you

“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” (Rom. 8:9)

When praising the Lord according to Psalms 150

The six verses of Psalms 150 is a doxology that closes the entire Book of Psalms and it is a general exhortation to praise God. The psalmist urges the congregation to praise God with music and dancing, naming nine types of musical instruments. For this reason it is also called "the musicians' psalm. 

“1  Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 

2  Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3  Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,

4  praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and strings and pipe,

5  praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.” (Prov. 22:29 NKJV)

Excellence: The state, quality, or condition of excelling; superiority; to take the lead; to be the best; possessing good qualities in high degree.  

Christians must always strive for excellence 

What you do represents who you are and who you’re connected to. God is your father, Jesus is your Savior and Lord. Why would you want to settle for less?

Excellence examples in the Bible 

  • Daniel’s excellent spirit

“Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.” (Dan. 6:3 KJV)

  • Joseph’s excellent work 

“You shall be in charge of my house, and all my people are to obey your commands. Only with regard to the throne will I be greater than you. Pharaoh also told Joseph, "I hereby place you over all the land of Egypt." (Gen. 40-41)

Perseverance: endurance, tenacity, determination; continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition : steadfastness.

Don’t grow wearing of doing good

Endurance produces character

Be responsible to God in whatever you do

When your heart is troubled

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” (John 14:1 NKJV)

 With so much negativity present in the news and all over social media platforms, it would be easy to become troubled if you let yourself be. But, don’t let your heart be troubled because you can control your heart! The above statement by Jesus, says, “Don’t let your heart be troubled.” That statement is a command by Jesus and He would never command you to do anything  you could not do! In fact, He will help you do it if you ask Him!
