When Faced with Drought and Famine

“Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.” (Psalms 33:18-20)

Drought: A prolonged period of scarcity, dryness, or lack—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual.

God Sees and Sustains You

In seasons of drought and famine, when resources seem scarce and hope feels distant, God’s watchful eye remains upon His people. He sees your need, knows your situation, and promises to sustain you. Even when circumstances appear barren, the Lord is your help and your shield, preserving your life and strengthening your heart as you wait on Him.

God Brings Unusual Help

“You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not acknowledge it? From now on I will tell you of new things, hidden things unknown to you.” (Isaiah 48:6)

God is not limited by what you can see. He can provide help from unexpected places—hidden resources, unseen opportunities, and divine interventions beyond human understanding.

God Provides in Impossible Ways

“I will open rivers on the barren heights, and fountains in the middle of the valleys. I will turn the desert into a pool of water, and the dry land into flowing springs.” (Isaiah 41:18)

“He led you through the vast and terrifying wilderness… He brought you water from the rock of flint.” (Deuteronomy 8:15)

“And from every high mountain and every raised hill, streams of water will flow…” (Isaiah 30:25)

God specializes in making a way where there seems to be none. He can bring provision out of dryness, refreshment out of barrenness, and abundance out of lack.

Therefore

Trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Even in seasons of scarcity, He is working on your behalf.

“The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand.” (Deuteronomy 28:12)

“The Lord knows the days of the blameless… in the days of famine they have abundance.” (Psalms 37:18-20)

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19 ESV)
