When You Want to Be a Powerful Witness for Christ

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV)

Witness in the power of the Holy Spirit

Jesus never intended for us to witness in our own strength. Before sending His disciples into the world, He promised they would receive power through the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit who empowered the early church still empowers believers today. As you continually yield yourself to Him, He gives you courage, wisdom, love, and the right words to speak. Your responsibility is simply to be available and faithful while trusting Him to do the work of changing hearts.

You are Christ’s ambassador

“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor. 5:18-21 ESV)

The Holy Spirit will help you speak

“and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” (Matt. 10:18-20 ESV)

Don’t be ashamed of the gospel

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." (Rom. 1:16 ESV)

Therefore

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so n that 1 they may see your good works and o give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matt. 5:16 ESV)

“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." (1 Pet. 3:15 ESV)

“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” (Col. 4:5-6 ESV)
