Quarrelsome people are everywhere!

“A quarrelsome person starts fights as easily as hot embers light charcoal or fire lights wood.” (Prov. 26:21 NLT)

When confronted by a quarrelsome person

Quarrelsome people are everywhere—quick to argue, stir up trouble, and create strife. Spend any time on social media platforms, and you’ll inevitably encounter argumentative individuals who speak without filters or restraint. If you respond, you’ll likely receive even more hostility in return.

The best response?

The Bible says to give no response at all to foolish arguments. Engaging with them only draws you into their conflict and risks making you just like them.

“Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.” (Prov. 26:4 NLT)

“Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words.” (Prov. 23:9 ESV)

“A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.” (Prov. 29:11 ESV)

Stay away from argumentative people

“Stay away from those who have foolish arguments and talk about useless family histories and argue and quarrel about the law. Those things are worth nothing and will not help anyone” (Titus 3:9 NCV).

“A wicked person listens to deceitful lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.” (Prov. 17:4 NIV)

Therefore

“Do all things without grumbling or questioning…” (Phil. 2:14 ESV)

“Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.” (Titus 3:1-2 ESV)

“Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.” (Prov. 19:11 ESV)

Quote

“One day, we’re going to give an account of every word we used on the Internet or our phones. That ought to give anyone pause before they post anything.” – Rick Warren

Pray for and bless Jerusalem

“Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper.” (Psalm 122:6 NLT)

God blesses those who bless Jerusalem and curses those who curse Jerusalem

“And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” (Gen. 12:3 NASB)

“May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed." (Gen. 27:29 NIV)

God is their God in faithfulness and righteousness

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country, and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.” (Zech. 8:7-8 ESV)

Therefore

“Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn over her.” (Isa. 66:10 NIV)

“The Lord roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth quake. But the Lord is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the people of Israel.” (Joel 3:16 ESV)

Quote

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.” – Jesus Christ  (Matt. 23:37 NASB)

A shield in the time of trouble

“...LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!... But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head...” (Psalm 3:1, 3, NKJV)

Straighten up and raise your heads

While this is being written, the news is filled with disturbing images of violent protests and riots occurring in major cities across the nation. People who are causing trouble appear to be present on all sides. But, as the passage above says, God is your “shield” and “the One who lifts your head!” In fact, Jesus said that when you see troubling things in the world (happening as the signs of the end times), you should “straighten up and raise your heads” because you know your redemption is near!

“Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28 ESV)

Therefore

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isa. 41:10 ESV)

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:13 ESV)

Quote

“Such are the conditions prior to Judgment Day. We need to learn from this and not fret when we see these things happening, but say: Christ predicted beforehand that the world would become so savage, coarse, greedy, and so on. Well then! That's the way it is, and it is even going to get worse.” – Martin Luther

Rejoice in the Lord, always!

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” (Hab. 3:17-18 NIV)

They were defeated, discouraged, and afraid

In his book, “Talking To My Father” (Barbour & Co. 1997), Ray Stedman relates the following story.

“An old missionary couple had been working in Africa for years, and they were returning to New York City to retire. They had no pension; their health was broken; they were defeated, discouraged, and afraid. They discovered they were booked on the same ship as President Teddy Roosevelt, who was returning from one of his big-game hunting expeditions.

No one paid much attention to them. They watched the fanfare that accompanied the President’s entourage, with passengers trying to catch a glimpse of the great man.

As the ship moved across the ocean, the old missionary said to his wife, "Something is wrong. Why should we have given our lives in faithful service for God in Africa all these many years and have no one care a thing about us? Here this man comes back from a hunting trip and everybody makes much over him, but nobody gives two hoots about us."

"Dear, you shouldn’t feel that way," his wife said.

"I can’t help it; it doesn’t seem right."

When the ship docked in New York, a band was waiting to greet the President. The mayor and other dignitaries were there. The papers were full of the President’s arrival, but no one noticed this missionary couple. They slipped off the ship and found a cheap flat on the East side, hoping the next day to see what they could do to make a living in the city.

That night, the man’s spirit broke. He said to his wife, "I can’t take this; God is not treating us fairly."

His wife replied, "Why don’t you go into the bedroom and tell that to the Lord?"

A short time later he came out from the bedroom, but now his face was completely different. His wife asked, "Dear, what happened?"

"The Lord settled it with me," he said. "I told him how bitter I was that the President should receive this tremendous homecoming, when no one met us as we returned home. And when I finished, it seemed as though the Lord put his hand on my shoulder and simply said, ‘But you’re not home yet!’"

Therefore

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Cor. 2:9).

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” (Heb. 13:15 NIV)

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” (Psalm 118:8 ESV)

“The afflicted shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the Lord! May your hearts live forever!” (Psalm 22:26 ESV)

Freedom from addictions!

For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.” (2 Peter 2:19 ESV)

Addiction

Addiction is a compulsive, chronic physiological or psychological need for a habit-forming substance, behavior, or activity—often one that has harmful physical, psychological, or social effects. It typically causes clearly defined symptoms (such as anxiety, irritability, tremors, or nausea) upon withdrawal or abstinence. It is, quite simply, the state of being addicted.

I Was Addicted to Alcohol

Before my life was transformed by Christ, I was addicted to alcohol. I spent every cent I had to support my addiction. Many times I got into serious trouble because of my drinking and how it affected my behavior. I was often drunk and disorderly in public places. The police arrested me, and I went to jail. No matter how hard I tried, I could not stop drinking.

Then one evening, while out drinking with friends, I was looking for matches in the car’s glovebox and came across a small gospel tract by Chick Publications titled “This Was Your Life.” It told the story of a young man exactly like me. It explained sin and its consequences, described Jesus’ death on the cross to pay for our sins, and included a prayer to receive Him as personal Lord and Savior.

I sincerely prayed that prayer—and I was instantly “born again,” just as Jesus described in John 3:1–8. From that moment on, my life was forever changed. It's now been more than 50 years since I stopped drinking.

I had other addictions too, such as smoking, which I eventually overcame. Strangely—and I still don’t fully understand why—it was harder for me to quit smoking than it was to quit drinking. I was instantly delivered from alcohol, but not from tobacco. I did finally prevail, but it took persistent prayer, effort, and self-control.

The following verses were especially helpful to me along the path to victory.

Be Sober-Minded

Being “sober-minded,” as the verse below says, means developing a healthy mindset in relation to addiction. Recognize that the devil is behind it—“like a roaring lion seeking to destroy you.” You must constantly stay alert to his schemes and resist his attacks.

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8 ESV)

Remain Steadfast

Understand that it’s not only the devil attacking you—your own desires are also at work. As the passage below explains, you are being “lured and enticed” from within. Learn to recognize the early symptoms of addiction as warning signs. Take action quickly before temptation grows into “full-blown sin.” Stay steadfast in your fight, and trust that blessings will follow.

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God,’ for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (James 1:12–15 ESV)

Do Not Be Enslaved by Anything

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything. (1 Corinthians 6:12 ESV)
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1 ESV)

Abstain from Passions of the Flesh

“Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” (1 Peter 2:11 ESV)

Avoid Bad Company

In your battle against addiction, stay away from environments and people that draw you back in. If former friends still engage in the habits you’ve left behind, don’t spend time with them.

My work takes me to industry trade shows and conventions where alcohol is everywhere. I avoid the bars and parties and focus solely on my business. Occasionally, someone will offer me a drink, and I’ll reply with a smile, “No thank you—I’m allergic to alcohol. When I drink, I break out in police cars and handcuffs.” They always laugh and say something like, “Oh yes, I understand.”

Whatever it takes for you to remain victorious and steadfast—do it

“Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals.’” (1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV)
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” (Romans 13:14 ESV)

“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(Matthew 26:41 ESV)

Call Upon the Lord in the Day of Trouble

“And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” (Psalm 50:15 ESV)

Therefore

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 ESV)

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36 ESV)

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16 ESV)

Quote

“Nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change. We need to remind ourselves that God can change things. Outlook determines outcome. If we see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the problems, we can have victory.” – Warren Wiersbe

Angels are at work

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:10)

Do we have guardian angels?

In the above passage, while speaking about children, Jesus said, “Their angels,” which suggests that children have angels assigned to them. Does this mean angels are assigned to them during all their lives or only while they are children? We don’t know because He didn’t say so. There is a passage in Hebrews 1:14 that reveals that the purpose of angels is to minister and to serve us as they are directed to do so by God (i.e., on our behalf). “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

The Bible has a lot to say about angels

The Bible mentions the word “angel” 273 times and only gives the names of three of them: Gabriel (Daniel 8:16), Michael the archangel (Daniel 10:13), and Lucifer, the fallen angel (Isaiah 14:12). There are a massive number of angels; although the exact number is not specified in the Bible, it says that there are “myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands" of them, all to do what God directs them to do.

“Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!” (Psalm 103:20 ESV)

Angels are fellow servants not to be worshipped

“Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Rev. 19:10 ESV)

“Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind…” (Col. 2:18 ESV)

Angels praise God

“Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts!” (Psalm 148:2 ESV)

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!’” (Luke 2:13-14 ESV)

Angels are sent from God to guard, guide, and help

“Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.” (Exo. 23:20 ESV)

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:11 ESV)

“Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place.” (Acts 8:26 ESV)

“My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” (Dan. 6:22 ESV)

“But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said…” (Acts 5:19 ESV)

God’s powerful angels are usually unseen

“Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:19 ESV)

Angels may appear in dreams

“But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” (Matt. 1:29 ESV)

Angels are mighty and powerful

“And that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.” (1 Kings 19:35 ESV)

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear God

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.” (Psalm 34:7 ESV)

Therefore

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (Heb. 13:2 ESV)

Quotes

“What a loving God we serve! Not only has He prepared a heavenly dwelling for us, but His angels also accompany us as we transition from this world to the next.” – Dr. David Jeremiah

“As created beings, angels are not to be worshipped, glorified, or adored in and of themselves. The angels were created to worship, glorify, adore, and obey God.” – Tony Evans

The whole counsel of God

“Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27 ESV)

Declaring the “whole counsel of God” is what made Paul “innocent” of anyone’s choice to turn away from the truth. When Paul first arrived in Ephesus, he found some disciples who had heard of John the Baptist and did not yet know of the completed ministry of Jesus or the coming of the Holy Spirit. Paul brought them up to speed by presenting Jesus to them, and baptized them “in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

“And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” On hearing this,  they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 19:4-5 ESV)

Paul shared the complete gospel

“Paul shared “the whole counsel of God” (ESV) or “the whole will of God” (NIV) or “the whole purpose of God” (NASB) in that he spoke the complete gospel. He had given the whole truth about God’s salvation which included the “mystery of God”, which is God’s extending His plan of salvation to Gentiles as well as Jews.

“For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, show the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power.” (Eph. 3:1-7 ESV)

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…” (1 Cor. 15:1-4 ESV)

Therefore

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Rom. 1:16 ESV)

Quote

“It is fashionable in some academic circles to exercise scholarly criticism of the Bible. In so doing, scholars place themselves above the Bible and seek to correct it. If indeed the Bible is the Word of God, nothing could be more arrogant. It is God who corrects us; we don’t correct Him. We do not stand over God but under Him.” - R.C. Sproul

A Godly warning is an act of love

“Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:31 NIV)

Warning with tears

When driving along a country road you may come across warning signs such as, “Dangerous Curves Ahead” or “Watch for Rocks on Road”. These signs are there to warn you of danger ahead and to prevent accidents, even death. Warning people of danger is both a duty and a kindness. Notice in the passage at top that Paul says that he warned the Ephesians “with tears.” He said that because he loved them! Not warning people of dangers you are aware of makes you complicit if something bad happens to them. The Bible, both in the Old and New Testaments, is filled with many warnings. There are more than a hundred in the New Testament, alone. When you warn people, attitude is everything! Always do it carefully and lovingly. The verse below says to warn others like you would a brother.

“Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.” (2 Thess. 3:15 ESV)

The following are just a few of the many warnings found in the New Testament.

Biblical warnings

·      Deceivers: “For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.” (2 John 1:7-8 ESV)

·      Forces of evil: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12 ESV)

·      Works of the flesh: “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Gal. 5:19-21 ESV)

·      Worldliness: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17 ESV)

·      Unrighteousness: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” ( 1 Cor. 6:9-11 ESV

·      False doctrines: “If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.” (1 Tim. 6:3-5 ESV)

·      Devisiveness: “I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.” (Rom. 16:17 ESV)

·      Unequally yoked: “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Cor. 6:14-18 ESV)

·      The way to God: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6 ESV)

Therefore

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” (Eph. 6:13 ESV)

Quotes

“I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” – Jesus Christ (Rev. 3:11)

“More than 100 verses in the New Testament tell us to warn others. It’s part of our responsibility as followers of Jesus.” – Rick Warren

The Holy Spirit within you

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own…” (1 Cor. 6:19 ESV)

The Holy Spirit gives birth to your spirit

“Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:5-8)

Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” (John 14:15-17 ESV)

“You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.” (Romans 8:9 ESV)

The Holy Spirit helps you

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26 ESV)

“And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.” (1 Cor. 2:13 ESV)

The Holy Spirit gives you power to witness

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 ESV)

The Holy Spirit enables you to speak the Word of God with boldness

“And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31 ESV)

The Holy Spirit helps you live righteously

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Gal. 5:16-18 ESV)

The Holy Spirit intercedes for you

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Rom. 8:26-27 ESV)

Ask God for the Holy Spirit

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13 ESV)

Therefore

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” (John 16:12-15 ESV)
